Our beginning
Turning protest into progress.
SUJ was born in 2020 after the murder of George Floyd. Ongoing dialogue with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department helped launch safety initiatives for individuals with autism and special needs.
Stand Up For Justice
I am because we are
Rooted in the Spirit of Ubuntu, we are building a Beloved Community grounded in Truth, Beauty, and Goodness - guided by equity, compassion, and collective healing.
Our journey
What began as a local call for justice grew into a movement for unity when founders, youth leaders, and local law enforcement chose dialogue over division.
Through music, arts, community organizing, and restorative conversations, SUJ keeps a simple promise alive: justice through compassion.

More about our movement
Stand Up For Justice was co-founded by Antoinette Rootsdawtah and Pato Banton, whose combined experiences in social justice, music, and spiritual leadership created the foundation for this movement.
Ubuntu teaches that "I am because we are." This principle guides everything from community dialogues in California to women-led empowerment programs in Africa.
To cultivate love, fairness, and truth while uplifting voices, stories, and creative power too often unheard.
A Beloved Community where justice is unbiased, wellness is accessible, and every human being is treated with dignity.
Our impact
Our values
The challenge we face together
We face systems that divide rather than connect and wounds that cry out for healing. Through music, art, storytelling, education, and holistic wellness, SUJ is proving that love is a force for justice, healing, and transformation.
